Gardeners

The rain has been coming down all week, relieving us of our watering duties. With the cooler temps we were able to get so much accomplished without breaking a sweat!

We weeded beds, tied and tended growing plants, removed spent kale, turned a few compost piles, harvested squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, blackberries and bulb onions. Two deliveries went out to SAFE this week! We love sharing the fruits (and vegetables) of our labor.

We will meet this week on Wednesday at 5:30 and on Saturday at 8:30 for work sessions.

The week ahead:

• Weed

• Turn compost piles

• Harvest

• Water (supplementing rain where needed)

• Stake and tie up climbing vegetables

• Continue tying and suckering tomato plants

• Remove spent chard from beds

Garden needs:

• organic manure

• kitchen scraps

• summer & fall seeds

Items of Note

A public hearing on proposed data center development in Alamance County will be held on Monday, August 17 at 6:30 PM at the Alamance County Historic Courthouse. The discussion will include potential impacts on local water resources, infrastructure, and future county regulations. Community members are encouraged to attend and share their thoughts.

Join fellow bird enthusiasts for Coffee & Conversation: Birds of Alamance County – From Backyard Feeders to Trail Finds on Thursday, July 30 from 6:00–7:30 PM at the Graham Civic Center. Dr. Lynn Moseley will share tips on bird identification, backyard birding, local Bluebird Trail initiatives, and exploring the outdoors. Free to attend; registration is requested.
